I am a freelance writer doing product marketing consulting and content development for B2B companies and websites. I started my career in engineering and technical support before moving to product marketing and marketing communications positions in which I have over 25 years’ experience. As I transitioned from engineering to marketing I saw firsthand that it’s one thing to have knowledge about a subject, a product or a service, but another matter entirely to be able to write about it effectively and resonate with a target audience.
Somewhere along the line I discovered that I could write, and write effectively. As a product marketing manager for several technology firms I created copy for all manner of collateral, from blogs, datasheets and whitepapers to long form presentations and comprehensive reports.
And I discovered something else. I actually enjoyed writing. Not only getting the words on the screen, but also the groundwork involved in crafting the story — doing research and working with and interviewing sources. So I transitioned once again to freelance writing and have enjoyed working on projects and contract assignments with multiple organizations and marketing agencies. When I take on an assignment my clients know that I will deliver quality work, on time and on target.
